Merz has secured FDA approval for two new Belotero formulations—Belotero Volume and Belotero Intense—marking the company's most significant filler expansion in years. Volume targets mid-face and cheek augmentation; Intense focuses on lip and perioral definition, both addressing gaps Merz faced against Galderma's Restylane line and Evolus' Kysse.
The move is strategic. Belotero's ultra-smooth hyaluronic acid matrix has always been the brand's clinical differentiator—less ecchymosis, more natural integration—but the portfolio was thin. With these two additions, Merz now competes across the full volumization spectrum without ceding territory to Galderma's Volyme or Volbella. Practices already carrying Belotero get immediate upsell opportunities; those on competitor platforms face real switching pressure if patient satisfaction with smoothness and longevity justifies the conversion.
