In a subgroup analysis of eight patients on GLP-1 drugs, all showed visible midface improvement at three months after HArmonyCa treatment. Allergan said this represents "an early clinical signal" for addressing facial volume loss in patients undergoing medical weight loss. The data come from a critical study and will be presented as a formal subgroup analysis at the conference.
HArmonyCa uses what Allergan calls DART—Dual Action Rejuvenating Technology—which pairs the immediate lifting effect of hyaluronic acid with the longer-term biostimulatory activity of calcium hydroxyapatite. The product recently launched in the United Arab Emirates and is being positioned as part of the company's "AA Signature" multimodal approach to treatment.
The broader portfolio data presented at AMWC included patient-reported outcomes from SKINVIVE, a skin booster, showing how it improved neck appearance and patient satisfaction. New research also examined long-term BOTOX Cosmetic use in Middle Eastern patients. In that study, the majority of patients reported satisfaction with effects on upper forehead lines and said they felt younger as a result of repeated treatment.
Allergan also hosted two symposia. On October 21, the Allergan Medical Institute presented "AA Signature Lift-Up Multimodal Approach with Regenerative Biostimulation," featuring live technique demonstrations and panel discussion on HArmonyCa and DART technology. Speakers included Dr. Raafat Lakis, Dr. Reha Yavuzer, and Dr. Mariola Galazka, who explored the AA Signature Lift-Up approach as part of longer-term multimodal treatment planning. On October 22, a separate symposium titled "Breakthrough Science in Aesthetics: New Frontiers in Clinical Outcomes and Care" brought together Dr. Galazka, Dr. Koenraad De Boulle, and Dr. Mansi Mukherjee to discuss advances in neurotoxin science, long-term Botox evidence, and natural-looking outcomes across the portfolio.
The company framed the data around an emerging clinical problem: patients on GLP-1 medications experience facial volume loss alongside body weight loss, requiring practitioners to reassess and retreat patients holistically. Medical weight loss can affect facial volume, structure, and skin quality. Darin Messina, senior vice president of aesthetics research and development at AbbVie, said the breadth of data "reflects how Allergan Aesthetics commits to developing evidence-based portfolio approaches to treating patients as the industry continues to evolve alongside patient needs."
The eight posters covered how HArmonyCa works, 24-month safety and efficacy data from a multicenter evaluator-blinded randomized parallel-group study, the GLP-1 subgroup analysis, SKINVIVE neck outcomes, long-term BOTOX Cosmetic satisfaction in Middle Eastern patients from a retrospective chart review and cross-sectional study, and three additional studies on hyaluronic acid gel properties. One examined how cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel affects dermal extracellular matrix structure and stability using spatial proteomics. Another assessed whether injectable hyaluronic acid gel displaces using 3D imaging in a rat model. A third evaluated how a hyaluronic acid dermal filler degrades and how it performs in a rodent model using MRI and histological analysis.
Practitioners could meet faculty at booth B16 for sessions on the AA Signature Lift-Up approach, clinical factors in facial neurotoxin treatment, and how building trust through clinical expertise matters.
The document does not specify the total number of patients in the main HArmonyCa trial, how long follow-up lasted beyond the three-month midface data in the GLP-1 subgroup, or whether the GLP-1 findings have been published in a peer-reviewed journal. It also does not disclose whether HArmonyCa has received FDA clearance or approval in the United States or other major markets outside the UAE.
